The New Britain Museum of American Art contains approximately 8,274 items in its collection, including paintings, sculptures, works on paper, and photographs. There are colonial and federal portraits and many works from artists representing significant artists and American Art movements. The museum is open during the current health restrictions. However, visitors are encouraged to make appointments and only spend 90 minutes in the museum.

Visitors can also explore the museum digitally via their emuseum feature. The collection is organized alphabetically by artist and exhibition, making it easy to find specific exciting exhibits.

New Britain Industrial Museum

Covering over 200 years of industrial innovation and celebrating the inventions and tools manufactured in New Britain factories. Visitors are amazed at the plethora of devices and instruments. There is something for everyone, whether it is something made for the kitchen or tools in the workplace.

Walnut Park and Walnut Hill Rose Garden

Frederick Law Olmsted created Walnut Hill Park and is included in the National Register of Historic Places. The park was commissioned in 1870. The Walnut Hill Rose Garden was added in 1929 and has gone through many evolutions. Recently the Friends of Walnut Park Rose Gardens have rebuilt the rose garden making it an exciting place to visit. A rose garden is a trendy place for celebrations and weddings. Volunteers are needed to help with cleanup, organizing, and supporting the annual rose garden festival.

Breweries – Alvarium Beer Company, Five Churches Brewing

There are many bars and eateries in the area. However, two exciting places to mention are the Alvarium Beer Company and Five Churches Brewing. Both brew great beers, especially if you enjoy craft beers with different flavors.

Drying Carpets In-Place

Quite often, carpets are exposed to water from leaks in bathrooms or kitchens. The water is seeping from the room and soaking the rug and the underpad, and the subfloor. SERVPRO prefers to dry the carpet without removing it. There are several advantages to this approach:

  • There is less disruption
  • Carpet suffers less damage
  • Less chance of the carpeting delaminating

There are situations where the carpet must be removed, for example:

  • Exposure is greater than 72 hours
  • Evidence of mold
  • Carpet installed over hardwood floors, laminates, or multiple subfloors
  • Gray or black water damage
  • Presence of sensitive items
